You can run the office without a boss, but you can’t run an office without secretaries — Jane Fonda

Dear Soon-to-be wife and perhaps, single ladies

Every man wants to feel loved, respected, appreciated, and heard.

It’s the easiest thing on earth for a man to gravitate towards a woman who does all these things for him.

That’s not all

To buttress this point, just follow me slowly

I will bring in the analogy of male bosses and their secretaries.

Historically, in the early and mid-20th centuries, secretarial positions were some of the few professional options open to women.

These job roles were frequently viewed as administrative support roles beneath leaders, most of whom were men.

This still stands true today, but only that men now occupy those secretarial positions as well. However, the numbers are way less when compared to the women in those positions.

In all, these secretaries were employed to attend to the needs of their bosses which transcends the normal routine of just work and office appointments.

This is where the SECRET lies — being involved in their lives.

Actress Sarah Rafferty portrayed Donna Paulsen on the television series “Suits”.

One of the series’ most notable roles was played by Sarah Rafferty as Donna, a brilliant legal secretary who eventually rose to the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) at the law firm Pearson Specter Litt.

Donna was renowned for her loyalty, wit, and skill.

Most Suits lovers remember her, right?

She pictures the totality of all that this post is trying to pass across to you.

Every detail is well captured within her mannerisms, professional acumen, and personal disposition.

To not bore you with too many details, she was to Harvey Specter, what a wife should be.

Don’t throw your stones yet, let me land.

Your soon-to-be husband or boyfriend might not be an outright boss in his office, but that’s not the point of this post.

The focus is the ATTITUDE.

How he is treated.

How he is being taken care of.

How all the details of his life must matter to you.

Every man loves that his woman provides him with Personal Loyalty and Support.

I know it should go both ways too, that will be handled in another post.

A closer look at Donna Paulsen again.

Donna was Harvey’s confidante, providing emotional support and personal advice.

She understood him better than almost anyone else and often helped him navigate personal and professional challenges.

Donna was entrusted with Harvey’s deepest secrets and consistently maintained discretion, protecting both his personal and professional reputation.

She handled situations for him.

She used her influence and connections within the firm to manipulate situations in Harvey’s favor, whether it was by convincing someone to act a certain way or finding critical information.

Donna goes out of her way to look out for Harvey’s best interests, both personally and professionally.

She makes sure he’s taken care of, from ensuring he eats properly to managing his personal matters.

Donna ensured that Harvey’s achievements and milestones were celebrated, organizing events and personal touches that showed her appreciation and recognition of his hard work.

Every man wants a DONNA.

Not with the looks alone, but also that attitude to be interested in the life of the person you refer to as the love of your life.

Donna’s relationship with Harvey is central to the dynamic of “Suits,” showcasing a blend of professional partnership, personal loyalty, and deep mutual respect.

Her actions throughout the series highlight her indispensable role in Harvey’s life and the firm’s success.
